The “trifulau”, the truffle hunter, is the character who, with the collaboration of his trained dog, dedicates himself to the collection of this rare product.
The trifulau is a lonely man who walks in the night, alone with his dog and with his secrets, a character in some ways almost mythical.
The secret is another component that characterizes this world. Secret is the place, secret is the moment, secret is the quantity of truffles that is found during the search.
A long experience made up of many stories, many memories to cherish and share with his precious friend and collaborator, his most faithful and beloved dog.
The search for truffles
But the search for truffles is also made of fatigue, cold, many steps up and down the countryside covered with frost and fog. An effort that is accompanied, however, by a passion that also gives a lot of satisfaction.
A passion that suddenly assails you at any time of the day, because soon, perhaps down there in the valley, along the ditch, under that tree…
Come on, you have to leave: … “ven, Fido, anduma”.
A journey that is undertaken each time as a new adventure in which there is nothing certain, but also nothing impossible.
Because you know that sooner or later the magical moment will come when your hands join the paws of your “Fido” to extract the precious treasure from the earth.
This also explains the fact that the research and quarrying of the truffle in 2021 had the recognition of UNESCO as an “intangible asset” heritage of humanity.
